Membership

The Indoor Tanning Association (ITA) was founded to protect the freedom of individuals to acquire a suntan. The ITA strives to:
  • Work with federal and state governments to ensure that this freedom is not restricted.
  • Strengthen and advance our position through research and education efforts that promote responsible indoor tanning.
  • Work cooperatively with and support other organizations whose efforts further the ITA's mission.

Membership in our organization is open to indoor tanning industry businesses and individuals who fit into any of our membership categories (Membership Types), defined below.

Membership Types
Following is a description of our five different categories of membership with annual fees for each category.

Equipment Manufacturer Member
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the manufacture, assembly, importing and sales of complete units of indoor sun tanning equipment. Dues are determined by gross annual sales.

Allied Products Member
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the manufacture, assembly, importing and sale of products or services used in support of or in complementing the indoor tanning process. Allied products include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following: the production and sale of component parts of indoor suntanning equipment, protective eyewear, disinfectants and sanitary supplies, swimwear-footwear accessories, industry-specific publications, industry-specific business systems, software and insurance. Dues are determined by gross annual sales.

Lotion Provider Member
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the manufacture and marketing of lotions and topical products. Dues are determined by gross annual sales.

Distributor Member
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the distribution and sale of indoor tanning equipment, its components and allied products to sub-distributors and salons. Dues are determined by gross annual sales.

Dues Structure For Above Membership Types

  • Membership dues will be based on member company’s estimated sales
    • 100% US Sales
    • 33% Non US Sales

Dues Based on Gross Annual Sales:

Sales >$125 million: $200,000 Per Year

Sales> $75 million < $125 million: $150,000 Per Year

Sales >$35 million <$75 million: $75,000 Per Year

Sales >$15 million <$35 million: $30,000 Per Year

Sales >$10 million <$15 million $10,000 Per Year

Sales >$5 million <$10 million $5,000 Per Year

Sales >$2 million <$5 million $3,000 Per Year

Sales > $0 < $2 million: $1,000 Per Year

 


Salon Member - $250 annually per store
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the sale and marketing of the indoor tanning process and allied products, at the salon level, to the tanning public. Dues are $250 annually per store.


Associate- $500 annually
Any entity, individual or firm primarily engaged in the manufacture, assembly, importing and sale of products or services used in support of or in complementing the indoor tanning process or is open to all vendors and suppliers to ITA members in the Equipment Manufacturer, Lotion Provider and Allied Sectors. Members from this sector are non-voting. In addition, they do not have representation on the board. Associate members receive all other membership benefits including ITA newsletters andcompany listing on the website. Associate members can contribute to the PAC
